Looking to get back into the sport, for a new hobby, a fun way to stay active, or a chance to meet new friends in Auckland? City Dragons – Tāmaki Makaurau is a fun, welcoming dragon boat club in Auckland that blends fitness, teamwork, dad jokes, and a dash of healthy competition. If you’re trying dragon boating for the first time or want to improve your paddling skills, we've got a seat for you, and provide everything you need to hit the water and start racing.

Train with us

City Dragons trains Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5.30pm from Westhaven Marina, Waitematā Harbour, Auckland. You don’t need experience, just a sense of adventure and humour. We provide paddles, life jackets, and guidance from friendly coaches. Our sessions combine fun, fitness, and team paddling skills that prepare you for both recreational outings and competitive events.

Racing & Events

From Auckland’s local regattas to national championships and even overseas trips, we offer members the chance to experience the excitement of competition. Race days are challenging but full of energy, teamwork, and fun.

We’re open to all ages and abilities, from first-timers to seasoned paddlers. Come for the workout, stay for the friendships, and maybe even find yourself racing at Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta or other dragon boating events across New Zealand.
