The City Dragons Dragon Boat Club in Auckland is officially recruiting new members for the 2025 dragon boat season. The club welcomes beginners and experienced paddlers alike to join one of the city’s most energetic and community-focused water sports teams.

Dragon boating in Auckland is a fast-growing sport that combines fitness, teamwork, and fun. Training with the City Dragons gives paddlers the chance to stay active, meet new people, and compete in exciting dragon boat races on Auckland’s Waitematā Harbour.

“No experience is necessary,” says Holly, Co-Coach and Sweep of the City Dragons. “We provide all the equipment, coaching, and encouragement you need. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go.”

The City Dragons offer training sessions on Auckland’s waterfront designed for all levels, from beginners learning the basics of paddling technique, to competitive paddlers preparing for regattas. New members can attend a trial session to experience what dragon boating is all about before committing.

The City Dragons Dragon Boat Club is part of the Auckland Dragon Boat Association and competes in local and regional dragon boat regattas each season.
